Lucy Maclennan

I work alongside my clients to interpret, organise and structure their approach to quality, safety and supply chain integrity as well as helping them innovate to deliver true business growth.

I believe:

  • The British food industry is second to none. The UK sets the standard for food safety and quality around the world, and I’m proud of our heritage.
  • There’s work to do. Finding solutions to economic, social and environmental sustainability and the resilience of food production is a local, national and global necessity.
  • We’ll solve the challenge by facing it head on.  Ask questions, research, analyse. Keep asking ‘why?’
  • Innovation is a necessity, not a ‘nice to have.’ To solve the problems facing the food industry we need to push boundaries and embrace change.
  • We need to work together.  Growers, producers, suppliers, retailers – we’re all part of the same picture and we need to collaborate.

The food industry is always changing and evolving and that’s fascinating. Nothing ever stays the same and that’s why I have spent the past 20 years developing my career as a food technical professional. I enjoy the process of change, pushing boundaries and finding new ways of thinking and working. I am committed to expanding my own knowledge and as well as completing an MBA in 2013, I am currently studying for a Professional Doctorate in Agrifood, focussing on sustainable fresh produce supply chains.

I have held senior management roles in both leading UK retailers and food suppliers and I know what it takes to motivate, inspire and develop an industry leading team. I know I have done a great job when you don’t need me any more because I have transferred my knowledge to your team, who have learned new skills and become self-sufficient.
